Dan & I got up on Friday and decided to hike a mountain. Now, this is called a mountain but it is not one of the 'real' mountains around here. It was definitely doable by me... which means it would be doable by most of you reading this. Really!
Shortly after starting out on the trail we ran into patches of snow which were fun to encounter on a hot summer day. It took a little over an hour to get to the top and the views were every bit worth my minor struggles.
Here I am just getting to the top... Mt. Bachelor is behind me.
Dan on the snow field.
Here's a guy who hiked up the trail with all of his ski gear strapped to his back with the goal of skiing down the backside of the mountain. He said it took about 30 seconds to ski down and 1/2 an hour to get back up for another go...looked like great fun for the more adventurous spirit!
Here he is taking off!
There were white flowers scattered all over the top of the mountain. Very pretty!
Here's a picture taken from our neighborhood to show where we were. The bigger mountain on the left is Mt. Bachelor where the local ski area is and Tumalo is the little snow covered 'hill' to the right.
We were home by lunchtime and spent the afternoon floating down the river with friends and then had a BBQ at their house. It was a great day!
